So, why t-shirts?  Actually, it was one of the book’s famous commentators, Joe Newberry, who suggest giving T’s a try. He had, in turn, received the suggestion from a friend “in the biz” with whom Joe shared some of the bluegrass cartoons. Single frame cartoons, he said, can make good t-shirts if they’re done right. Oh course the “done right” qualifier caused a little hick-up in the decision making process…what in the hell does Cornish know about producing t-shirts…but in the end Rick and the team decided to give it a shot, albeit a modest one.

Seven cartoons were selected for the experiment, based on two important criteria:

1) they had to be among Rick’s favorites; and

2) the captions needed to be brief.

At this point, the colors are limited. However, if Joe’s friend who’s in the biz is right and Cornish makes a fortune on the shirts, he likely to make them available in more colors.
