Rick Cornish is filling a very empty hole in the bluegrass community with BLUEGRASS: Funnier Than It Sounds. There are plenty of things to laugh at in our little world, and his cartoons perfectly capture the frustrations and pitfalls that befall the amateur musician, the unfailing festival attendee, and the long-suffering bluegrass spouse. It feels good to have a laugh at ourselves, which you can do with Rick’s clever look at the life of bluegrass through humor.
As a professional road musician, I hear a lot of jokes and see a lot of funny stuff. After a while, it seems like it all becomes the same. This new book of cartoons from my dear friend Rick Cornish had me crying with laughter today. So many things that all musicians know to be true, but just never say it. These cartoons really hit home. This book is gonna be a big hit. Whether you play music or not, you are gonna find yourself laughing. I can’t wait to get my own copy. Thanks, Rick, for keeping us laughing!

Cartoons are too funny. I love the Genius Dog! Reminds me of my own guy, Tucker.
Bluegrass music is often guilty of taking itself too seriously. Rick Cornish, an insider who can see our foibles from the point of view of an outsider, has produced a series of cartoons that gently skewer the absolutist hard-core advocates and the more casual lookers-on simultaneously. His thought- and laugh-provoking comments and jabs should be just the antidote for those who need a laugh or wish to develop a perspective on the bluegrass passion many people indulge themselves in. His humor is catching. You can catch some, too!
